John P. Gober Sr., 87, of Northampton, died July 4, 2016, at home. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Silfies) Gober for 61 years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Joseph P. and Rose (Schloffer) Gober.

He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean era and earned the rank of PFC (T).

He was a presser for the former Cross Country Clothes-Botany 500 Group, Northampton, until he retired after 47 years.

He was a bowler at the Northampton Hungarian Hall.

He is survived by a daughter, Janice A. Gober of Northampton; five sons, John P. Jr. and his wife Debra Gober of Wescosville, Jeffrey P. and his wife Patti Gober of Northampton, Gary P. Gober also of Northampton; Paul J. and his wife Renee Gober of Orlando, Fla. and Glen P. and his wife Brenda Gober of Bethlehem; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Theresa Lauser of Ormrod; a brother, Stephen of Northampton; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Stella Piervallo; and a brother, Joseph Gober.
