Gary Keith Kohler, 74, died July 14, 2016, in Newtown. He was the husband of Anne (Schierl) Drennan and of the late Gale (Dalla Piazza) Kohler.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Forrest C. L. and Kathleen Mae (Schadler) Kohler.

He earned a Ph.D. from Lehigh University.

He had a 32-year career with Exxon in Texas.

He helped with Family Promise, hurricanes Katrina and Wilma relief programs and educational support.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kristen and Tim Smith and Ingrid and Dave Kozemchak; five grandchildren, Thomas, Natalie, Evelyn, Riley and Jacob; and his mother-in-law, Elizabeth (Eckhoff) Werner.

He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Kohler.
