Charles J. Marakovits, 91, formerly of Coplay, died July 9, 2016, at Lehigh Center, Lower Macungie Township.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Charles and Mary R. (Csencsits) Marakovits.

He was in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran.

He was a quality control inspector for the former General Electric Company and for Black & Decker Company, Allentown.

He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay.

He was a past adjutant for American Legion Post 426, Coplay.

He was a Coplay borough councilman, auditor and a planning commission and health board member.

He was a lifetime member of Coplay Saengerbund.

He volunteered for Lehigh County Meals on Wheels.

He is survived by a sister, Mary Marakovits.
