Henry Alan Brokate, 73, of Vera Cruz, died July 20, 2016, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Carol Ann (Moatz) Brokate. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 18. Born in Port Clinton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Olan and Frances (Quandt) Brokate.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps and he continued his dedication to the Marines and his country by actively participating in the Marine Corps League, the Emmaus Veterans Association and the American Legion.
He was a welder and a foreman at Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 32 years before retiring.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Emmaus.
He enjoyed cheering on the Eagles and Phillies and watching those games with his family.
A longtime member of the Tall Maples Hunting Lodge, he was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. One of his greatest sources of pride was his garden, which he devotedly attended to each year.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Karen; sons, Alan, David and his wife, Kelly; grandson, Dylan Henry; sisters, Mary Lou Borns and Cheryl Christie. He was predeceased by a brother, William.
