John G. Sokol, of Emmaus and Tampa, Fla., died July 7, 2016, in Tampa. Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late John A. and Lillian H. (Jankowski) Sokol.

He was a 1979 graduate of Old Forge High School and received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Millersville University.

He was employed by Raymond James Financial, Tampa, as a computer system analyst.

He was a devoted father, an avid runner and cyclist and shared a love of the New York Giants and Yankees with his son, John Ryan.

He is survived by a son, John Ryan; brother, Robert and his wife, Janet, of Franklin Square, N.Y.; aunt, Helen, of Old Forge and cousins.
