Hanley concludes college career

Northampton High School and University of Minnesota graduate, Madeline Hanley, recently concluded her college gymnastics career with a trip to the NCAA Championships this past spring in Fort Worth, Texas.

The sports management major scored a 9.7625 on the uneven bars and a 9.800 on the balance beam while there, and the Gophers placed 12th in the nation.

The Gophers had placed second at the NCAA Regionals, qualifying them for NCAA Championships. The University of Florida took first place at regionals.

Also at regionals, Hanley scored 9.825 on uneven bars and 9.775 on beam.

The University of Minnesota gymnastics team were Big Ten regular season champions this year, scoring the second highest amount of points in school history with 197.425.

In addition, Hanley was named a Second-Team All-Big Ten selection after the Gophers defeated Penn State, Michigan, Iowa, and Rutgers.

The Gophers are coached by Jenny Hansen, who was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for 2016.
