‘Allentown Bach at Noon’

The Bach Choir of Bethlehem continues its “Allentown Bach at Noon” series, 12:10 p.m. July 12, St. John’s Lutheran Evangelical Church, 37 S. Fifth St., Allentown.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Admission is free. Reservations are not required. A free-will offering will be taken.

The program features one of Bach’s best beloved cantatas, BWV 140 “Wachet Auf!” (“Sleepers Wake”), with members of The Bach Choir and Bach Festival Orchestra joined by soloists Rosa Lamoreaux, soprano, and Steven Combs.

Also featured is the virtuoso young pianist Kristina Moditch, playing two preludes and fugues by Bach and the “Pathetique Sonata” of Ludwig van Beethoven.

The summer series concludes Aug. 9 with Bach’s “Coffee Cantata” BWV 211, including soloists Leslie Johnson and Bran Ming Chu, and “The True Story of Cinderella” by Warren Martin (1916-1982).
