Allen, FedEx will meet

Announced at the June 9 meeting, Allen Township Board of Supervisors will meet with FedEx Ground officials over undisclosed matters June 22.

Held in the township municipal building, this will be a closed session, called a preconstruction meeting,

The meeting is not expected to delay the groundbreaking of the $335 million mega warehouse and logistics hub that could take place later this month.

Supervisors Chairman Bruce Frack said supervisors will meet with FedEx Ground personnel at the private meeting, not open to the public or the press. Frack gave no further details about what the discussion would entail, simply saying, “We have a long list.”

Frack said when the supervisors next meet, June 28, it is expected details of the session with FedEx will be made public.

Rockefeller Group, out of New York City, is no longer involved, Frack said when responding to an inquiry.

“FedEx is now in charge,” Frack continued.

FedEx has, following extensive questioning over the last four years, faced a myriad of intergovernmental, road, environmental and other issues. Now that those issues have been resolved, including acquisition of land from Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority, the facility will be built on 260 acres off Willowbrook Road. As many as 600 persons will be hired in the first three years.
