34th house tour

WEST PARK

The Historic West Park Neighborhood hosts its 34th Annual House Tour June 19 featuring classic homes in Allentown’s West End, including the recently restored LVHN Edward Harvey Memorial College for Nurses building, 1628 Chew St., an example of sensitive restoration and adaptive reuse.

The tour, which runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 19, features homes with beautifully-carved woodwork, stained glass, irreplaceable architectural features and a journey through a pre-restoration project of an Arts and Craft home for its debut on the West Park Historic House Tour.

Music will be provided at locations along the tour.

The Queen Anne-style Clauss mansion, 1509 Linden St., featuring a recently-renovated designer kitchen, vintage-style powder room, and spa bath with steam shower, is an architectural gem bordering Allentown’s West Park.

The Shingle-style home of Mar Haeussler and John Clarry was selected as the 2016 Society of the Arts Show House.

Frank Whelan will present a talk about “Millionaire’s Row” at 1 p.m. June 19 at the John Taylor House.

Trolley transport is available from Church of the Mediator, 1620 Turner St., to Trout Hall and Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum.

Tickets, day of the tour: Episcopal Church of the Mediator.

Advance tickets are available at: Albright’s Hardware, C. Leslie Smith, Phoebe Floral, Walter’s Pharmacy, Hummus House, BoutiqueToGo, Re:find and Art-In-The-Park, June 18.

Free off-street parking is available at Masonic Temple, 16th and Linden streets, and 1425 Hamilton St., at the back of the John Taylor House.

This year’s tour, hosted by West Park Civic Association, is sponsored by Jaindl Properties, City Center Lehigh Valley, and BB&T.
