Stephen J. Sinko

Stephen J. Sinko, 85, of Macungie, died June 4, 2016. He was the husband of Teresa (Dlugas) Sinko. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage June 30. Born in Coplay, he was the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Herzog) Sinko.

He was a member and communion minister at St. Ann Catholic Church, Emmaus.

He was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School and the U.S. Naval Academy. He served in the U.S. Air Force and in 1957 resigned and accepted a position with Bethlehem Steel Corporation, where his responsibilities included labor contract administration and negotiations.

In the 1960s, he earned an MBA, an MS in industrial engineering and a law degree. Since retiring from Bethlehem Steel in 1983, he had been serving as an arbitrator and consultant in the area of labor relations.

He stayed active in the community in which he lived, serving on various boards in the area.

He is survived by his wife; son, Glenn and his wife Betsy, of Pittsburgh; grandsons, Matthew Glenn and Michael Robert; sisters, Stella Bodisch, of Northampton and Helen and her husband Edward Wolfel, of Denver, Colo.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary Laky, Anne Bodisch and Sister Mary Teresa.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. June 9 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 425 S. 6th St., Emmaus, 18049. A visitation will be held 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. June 9 in the church. Inurnment in the U.S. Naval Academy Columbarium in Annapolis, Md. will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.
