Ralph “Sonny” E. Kern, 83, of Walnutport, died May 24, 2016, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Mary A. (Ayer) Kern. He was the fiancé of Schirlene S. Benninger, with whom he resided.

Born in Friedens, he was a son of the late Stanley C. and Mildred L. (Fenstermacher) Kern.

He was an international service technician for Seidel Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., for 40 years until he retired in 2008.

Prior to that, he was a mechanic and stainless steel welder at the former Lehigh Valley Dairy.

He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Slatington.

He was a member of Diamond Fire Company, Walnutport, and Susquehanna Valley Hunting Club, Lycoming County.

He was a life member of North American Hunting Club, Heidelberg Game Protecting Association and Buck Masters Hunting Club in Selma, Ala.
