Donald J. Miller, 86, formerly of Macungie, died May 31, 2016, in the Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the husband of Elizabeth M. “Pat (Hesse) Miller. They recently celebrated 64 years of marriage. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of the late James and Margaret Miller.

He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Allentown.

He was a member and past-president of the Calvary Council Knights of Columbus and a Fourth Degree member of the Bishop Welsh Assembly Knights of Columbus

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a past fire chief and active member of the Centerport Fire Department in Centerport, N.Y.

He was a brewmaster for the former Stroh’s Brewing Company, Fogelsville and the F & M Schafer Brewing Company, Brooklyn, N.Y.

He was an avid and longtime fisherman of the Long Beach Island Fisherman’s Club.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Nancy E. and her husband George Kassis, of Macungie; sons, Donald J. Jr. and his wife Raphealla, of Northborough, Mass., and Michael S. and his wife Coleen, of Buffalo, N.Y.; son-in-law, Dr. Thomas McGinley, of Macungie; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary McGinley in 2011.
