Antoinette C. Rosto

Antoinette Cathryn (Silano) Rosto, 91, of Macungie, died May 24, 2016, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, 17th Street, Allentown. She was the devoted wife of the late Julius M. Rosto for 54 years until his death in 2003. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she lived the majority of her life on the East Side of Allentown. She was the youngest of four daughters of the late Anthony and Mary (Barone) Silano.

She graduated from Allentown Catholic High School in 1943 and worked at GE’s Allentown factory in quality control for more than 20 years. She and her husband also owned the former Berglay Hardware Store in Allentown. They loved going to the Jersey Shore and the Pocono Mountains. They owned a vacation home in Long Pond, where they enjoyed many weekends with family and friends.

She was a longtime member of Our Lady Help of Christians parish, and more recently of St. Thomas More Church, Allentown.

She was a recognized volunteer at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.

She is survived by a daughter, Maribeth and her husband Tom Ward, of Bethlehem, son, Michael and his wife Mary, of Bear Creek Village; granddaughters, Elizabeth and her husband Matthew Sitko, of Plymouth Meeting and Jennifer Ward, of Baltimore; great-grandchildren, Julien and Mia Sitko; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by three sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. June 2 in Our Lady Help of Christians. Calling will be 9 to 10:40 a.m. in the O’Donnell Funeral Home, 908 Hanover Ave., Allentown, 18109.

Contributions may be made in her memory to Parkinson’s, Michael J. Fox Foundation, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, both c/o the funeral home.
