Army

Army Staff Sgt. Ronald M. Reeves has arrived for duty as a recruiter at Allentown Recruiting Center, Lehigh Valley Recruiting Company.

He is the husband of Katie-Ann E. Reeves of Coplay.

Reeves is a 2002 graduate of Northeast Lauderdale High School, Lauderdale, Miss.

Air Force

U.S. Air Force National Guard Airman 1st Class Matthew Hilken graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Hilken completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills. He earned distinction as an honor graduate.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through Community College of the Air Force.

Hilken is a 2013 graduate of Whitehall High School.

Navy

Ben Longacre, a midshipman at United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., majoring in engineering, recently competed in the Memorial Hermann Ironman Competition in Houston, Texas. The Ironman competition consists of a 2.4-mile swim, 95-mile bike course and 26.2-mile marathon run. He completed the competition in 13 hours, 52 minutes and 24 seconds, placing 30th in his division (men 18-24).

More than 3,000 competitors registered for the competition.

Longacre is a 2014 graduate of Northampton Area High School.
