Gerald E. “Jerry” Brown, 94, of Macungie, died April 19, 2016, in his home on his late wife’s birthday. He was the husband of 72 years of Florence E. (Liddick) Brown, who died June 15, 2015. Born in Painted Post, N.Y., he was a son of the late George S. and Viola B. (Travis) Brown.
He served our country during World War II in Germany in the Engineer Corps of the Army and was awarded three Battle Stars and a Good Conduct Ribbon.
He was employed by Ingersoll Rand prior to the war and after the war he was a regional service manager for NCR in various locations in the United States, retiring from the Allentown office.
He was a consummate clockmaker/restorer and electronics repairman/restorer of antique radios as well as an accomplished machinist and a very early computer expert, being in research, development, building and maintenance of the early NCR computers. He was in charge of the maintenance and installation of the Air Force Strategic Air Command computers at the SAC underground facility with full security clearance.
He is survived by two nieces, a nephew, several grandnieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Brunskill and a brother, Francis.
