Caroline M. Bortz of Macungie, died May 18, 2016, with her family at her bedside. She was the wife of Delano E. Bortz. They recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. Born in Lower Macungie, she was a daughter of the late Paul T., Sr. and Sallie R. (Snyder) Bieber.

She was office manager for Macungie Printing Service from 1972 until her retirement. Previously she worked for GAC and First National Bank.

She was a member, Sunday school teacher and multifaceted volunteer at Grace Lutheran Church, Macungie.

She was valedictorian of Emmaus High School, Class of 1952 and continuously served as class treasurer from her sophomore year to this year.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, bridge, dining out and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband; children Jan, and her husband Jerry Mitchell and David and his wife, Fran; grandchildren Jennifer, and her husband Harley Kunkel, Stephanie and Matthew Bortz; brother Lloyd Bieber and sister Norma, and her husband Richard Grammes. She was predeceased by brothers Paul, Kurt and Dale Bieber.
