Joy Harter Robinson

Joy Harter Robinson, 91, of Luther Crest Retirement Community, South Whitehall Township, died May 10, 2016, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of the late Homer Robinson, D.D.C. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Ardath (Lessig) Harter.

She was a graduate of Allentown High School and Ursinus College.

She worked as a chemist for DuPont and later as a research librarian for Rodale Press.

She was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus.

She was a member of Lehigh Country Club and The Embroiderers Guild of the Lehigh Valley. She was a former board member and volunteer at the 1803 House, Emmaus, volunteer of the Lehigh Valley Food Bank, and the Luther Crest library and gift shop.

She was a fun-loving, creative, caring person who loved her family and was loved by them. “Honey Chip,” as she was called by her grandchildren, will be forever missed.

She is survived by daughters, Wendy and her husband Edward Heil and Dana and her husband James Grim; son, Jay and his wife Terry, all of Allentown; brother, James Harter of Palm Coast, Fla.; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was predeceased by a son, Homer “Robbie,” daughter, Lynn Geise, brother, Davide Harter, sister, Ardath Rodale and companion, Robert Klein.

Contributions may be made in her memory to The Luther Crest Benevolent Fund, 800 Hausman Rd., Allentown, 18103 or The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus, 18049.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. May 20 in Crest Hall at Luther Crest, 800 Hausman Road, Allentown. Arrangements were made by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
