Herman V. Kunkel, 94, formerly of Coplay, died May 3, 2016, in Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth.
Born in Albany Township, Berks County, he was a son of the late Warren and Beulah (Rausch) Kunkel.
He was the former owner of Kunkel’s Citi Service gas station, garage and used car sales, Coplay, for 23 years.
Later he worked at the Quality Service gas station, Whitehall, for 10 years until retirement.
He served his country faithfully and honorably during WWII with the U.S. Army.
He was a life member of both the Fullerton Fire Company and Coplay American Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol A. Kunkel and Linda L. and her husband Paul Tacker, all of Coplay; two sons, Herman R. and his wife Kathleen of Walnutport, with whom he last resided, and Harlan E. and his wife Sandra, of Whitehall; a sister, Miriam B. Reichel of Kutztown; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings Clarence, Ellis, Clayton, George, Ivan and Howard Kunkel and Arlene Kistler.
