Elizabeth E. “Betty” (Gouldner) Hemphill, 85, of Alburtis, died April 27, 2016, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Thomas S. Hemphill. They were married for 57 years. Born in Alburtis, she was a daughter of the late George L. and Hattie M. (Derr) Gouldner.

She was a dedicated member of Longswamp United Church of Christ, Mertztown. She participated in and assisted with many activities at the church.

She worked as a sewing machine operator at the former Royal Manufacturing, Alburtis, for over 10 years, retiring in 1988.

She is survived by her husband; daughters, Barbara A. and her husband Robert J. Hausman, of Allentown and Nancy J. and her husband David A. Snyder, Sr., of Alburtis; sister, Ruth M., widow of Wesley Holland, of Fleetwood; four grandchildren, James R. Hausman, Kathy A. Hausman, David A. Snyder, Jr., and Cindy M. Snyder; great-grandson, Evan S. Hausman. She was predeceased by siblings, Howard L. Gouldner, Harry G. Gouldner, Roy Gouldner and Grace E. Arndt.
