Concerts will return to borough; kickoff is May 25

The Borough of Northampton is bringing back free outdoor concerts, consisting of smaller musical groups performing everything from country-western to polka, Irish and more.

“In this year’s budget, I plan on some minor concerts throughout the borough,” Zarayko said during the April 21 council meeting.

The kickoff concert is set for May 25 at 18th Street and Lincoln Avenue. The area will be closed to vehicle traffic. We Three, a country-western band, will perform 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Next on the calendar is a June 1 concert at the Canal Park gazebo. Emil Schanta Polka Band will take the stage 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Then it’s back to 18th Street and Lincoln Avenue on June 8. Celtic Adventure will perform 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Steve Brosky and Jim Meyers are next in the lineup, performing 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 15 at the Canal Park gazebo.

“We have also scheduled Kilts in the Park on Aug. 23,” Zarayko said, adding a time has not yet been set. This event at Municipal Park, Laubach Avenue and Smith Lane, has drawn a large crowd in the past.
