Judith Ann Alexander
Judith Ann (Simcoe) Alexander, 80, of Emmaus, died April 17, 2016, in her home, surrounded by her beloved family. She was the wife of the late Dr. Raymond S. Alexander. Born in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late John G. and Mary V. (Tu) Simcoe, proprietors of Northampton Sanitary Dairy. She grew up on Simcoe Farms which is now the site of Iron Lakes Country Club.
She graduated from Chestnut Hill College in 1957, the same year she was chosen as Miss Industry in Northampton.
She worked as a laboratory technician at Merck, Sharpe and Dome in Philadelphia prior to moving to Allentown in 1962. She assisted her husband with the administration of his office practice and later worked as the manager of The Sun Inn Gift Shop in downtown Bethlehem.
She had a lifelong commitment to community work, as she felt, “From those to whom much is given, much is expected.”
She was a member of the Society of the Arts, the Lehigh County Medical Auxiliary, a volunteer for Channel 39, the United Way and the Allentown Art Museum. On behalf of the local chapter of Catholic Charities, she opened her home and heart to young unwed mothers.
She was an active member of St. Thomas More Church, where she attended mass daily. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and a volunteer for No One Dies Alone.
She is survived by her children Lisa, of Clarendon Hills, Ill., Todd and his wife Renee (Ambrosio), of Doylestown and Margo and her husband Bart Pattyson, of Williamsburg, Va.; sister, Christine Vaughn, of Moscow, Idaho.; grandchildren, Morgan Alexandra Fitzgerald and Liam Michael Fitzgerald. She was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Kopenhaver.
