Eva E. (Muth) Smith Funk

Eva E. (Muth) Smith Funk, 95, of Topton, died April 20, 2016, in The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the wife of the late Paul A. Funk, Sr., who died Aug. 31, 1995. Her first husband, George W. Smith, died Oct. 3, 1978. Born in Trexlertown, she was a daughter of the late John and Ellamanda (Day) Muth.

She was a member of Church of The Good Shepherd, U.C.C., Alburtis.

She was employed as a sewing machine operator and packer for over 40 years, retiring in 1988, having worked for the former Marcus Mfg., Topton, Keith Knitting Mills, Mertztown and Royal Mfg., Alburtis.

She was a member of the Topton Centennial Belles during the Topton Centennial Celebration in 1976.

She was known as “The Flower Lady of Topton,” devoting up to six hours a day at one time to her flowers and taking care of her home.

She is survived by sons, Rev. Gene W., and his wife Sara L. (Miller) Smith, of Coplay, Leon G. and his wife Diane J. (Christman) Smith, Kutztown; stepson Paul, Jr. and his wife Joyce (Derr) Funk, of Toms River, N.J.; and stepdaughter, Linda (Funk) Payne, of Perkasie; three grandchildren, Michele Heath, Mark Smith and Andrew Smith; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. She was predeceased by 10 brothers and four sisters.
