Wilmer T. Burrows

Wilmer T. Burrows, 93, of Catasauqua, died April 16, 2016, at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Lucretia (Pat) Burrows.

Born in Catasauqua, he was a son of Samuel C. and Louisa A. (Dougherty) Burrows.

He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was aboard the Landing Craft Tank 540, part of the Fourth Wave on Omaha Beach in the Normandy Invasion.

He retired from Bethlehem Contracting Company, Bath, after 25 years of service.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Catasauqua.

He was with Catasauqua Fire Department for 50 years.

He is survived by three sons, Samuel and his wife Linda of Catasauqua, Forrest and his wife Susan also of Catasauqua and James and his wife Jeanette of Dublin, Va.; a daughter, Carol and her husband Ralph Sadowski of Bethlehem Township; five grandchildren, Shawn Burrows, Michele Burrows and her husband Joseph Gmitter, Sheila Sadowski and her husband Timothy Wolfinger, David and his wife Catherine Burrows and Timothy Burrows; and seven great-grandchildren, Isabella, Aidan, Katelyn Gmitter, Reese, Lena Wolfinger, Margaret and Madelyn Burrows.

He was predeceased by a brother, Carl Burrows; and a sister, Matilda (Burrows) Sperlbaum.
