Donald C. Herring

Donald C. Herring, 78, of Lower Macungie, died April 13, 2016, at Cornerstone Living, New Tripoli. He was the husband of Ruby M. (Rupp) Herring. They shared 57 years of marriage. He was the son of the late Earl V. and Mae (Maurer) Herring, of Elysburg.

He was a dedicated educator of 32 years in the East Penn and North Penn school districts, where he served as planetarium director. He was always eager to point out objects in the Heavens, of which he is now a member.

He was an avid sports enthusiast and was owner/operator of A.M. Professor Sports Cards in Emmaus for many years. He also served as Morning Call motor carrier for nearly 30 years.

He was a graduate of Bloomsburg University.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Michael R., of Lower Macungie Township, Terry E. and his wife Martha (Dick), of Alburtis, Craig W. and his wife Cindy (Luchetta), of Alburtis; daughter, Jennifer and her husband Todd Farber, of Lower Macungie Township; brother, Rev. Paul and his wife Eleanor, of Carlisle; sister, Carol and her husband Wayne Hauck, of Sunbury; sister-in-law, Donna, of Whitehall; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Earl and his wife Dolores and brother David.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Arrangements were made by the Schmoyer Funeral Home, Breinigsville.
