John B. Haas, 79, of Jim Thorpe, died April 2, 2016, in his home. Born in Cementon, he was a son of the late John J. and Anna (Helko) Haas.

He was in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and achieved the rank of corporal.

He was a maintenance mechanic for the former Tarkett Flooring Company, Whitehall Township, for 43 years.

He attended Assumption BVM Catholic Church, Northampton.

He was a member of Mauch Chunk Rod & Gun Club, Jim Thorpe, and Petersville Rod & Gun Club, Bath.

He was involved in Scouting.

He is survived by three sons, Anthony A. of Lakebay, Wash., Brian L. and his wife Helen of Weaversville and John J. of Allentown; three grandchildren; and a brother, Richard and his wife Pat of Northampton.
