Patriots off to an undefeated start

Freedom has been on a tear to start the season and the Pates look to keep their undefeated streak going into this week.

Armed with four straight wins to start the season, the Patriots have scored 45 runs in tallying 10 or more runs in wins against Wilson 14-7, Northampton 13-2 and Central Catholic 11-9.

“Well I think our hitting has given us a great start and allowing us jump out to some big leads,” said head coach Nick D’Amico. “It’s very easy to play with big leads but we need to continue to work hard for those games that might be a little closer. Pitching has been good enough to keep us in games and I think as the season continues they will get stronger.”

Monday would have provided a test to the Pates hitting prowess when they were supposed to take on Parkland(1-2), but that game was rained out.

That leaves Freedom (4-0) with contests against Stroudsburg (2-1) and Allen (1-2) this week.

Liberty (2-1) was slowed down by Whitehall in their first loss of the season last week, falling 10-7 to the Zephyrs (2-1) after giving up a 6-1 lead in the fourth inning, only to see Whitehall score nine runs in the bottom of the frame to pull out the win.

The ’Canes take on Pleasant Valley (2-1) today before prepping for Friday’s contest with Bethlehem Catholic.

The Golden Hawks (2-2) started the season with two straight wins over Pottsville and Notre Dame East Stroudsburg, before losing to Whitehall 2-1 and then to Emmaus 3-0.

The Hawks are backwith a game at East Stroudsburg South (1-2) on today, followed by Friday’s tilt with Liberty and a Saturday afternoon contest against Central Catholic (1-2).
