Bobby Collins back with DVD at State

Bobby Collins returns to the State Theatre Center for the Arts, Easton, for a comedy show at 7:30 p.m. April 1.

Collins’ fourth DVD, “Bobby Collins: Live from the State Theatre,” taped in March 2015 at the State Theatre, is available for purchase on the night of the show.

Ryan Hill hosts a pre-show, 6-7 p.m. April 1, in the Easton Hospital Gallery, adjacent to the State Theatre. Performing are Jason J. Brown, Dan Maher and Randy Tonge.

Collins, who regularly has appeared at the State Theatre, said, “The State Theatre in Easton, Pa., is a place where I feel very comfortable. There’s a reason why I come back every year.”

Collins, named after his father’s favorite comedian, Bob Hope, displays the physical comedy of Jerry Lewis and the heart of George Burns. Collins is a born storyteller.

Collins is an American Comedy Award winner, a Grammy nominee, has had a Showtime special, and hosted comedy shows for VH-1, A&E and Showtime.

The native New Yorker left a lucrative position as vice president of Calvin Klein to pursue his comedic dream and ended up working alongside such comedy legends as Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno.

Collins, said to be the No. 1 most played and requested comedian on XM-Sirius Satellite Radio, has been called “most natural comedian working today” by The New York Times. Collins has opened for Frank Sinatra, Cher, Julio Iglesias, Tony Bennett and Dolly Parton.
