Mary A. Jursa, 87, of Lower Macungie Township, died March 20, 2016, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Jursa, who died Nov. 29, 2015. Born in St. Louis, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Frank Higgins and Marguerite (Mohn) Higgins.
Prior to becoming a homemaker, she worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines.
She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Allentown and over the years participated in many church activities, notably the Women’s Guild.
Through the church she volunteered at the Allentown Food Bank and with Hospice.
She is survived by a son, Thomas P., of Santa Cruz, Calif.; daughter, Dr. Carolyn and her husband Brett Ayers, of Winona, Minn.; grandchildren, Andrew Ayers, of Madison, Wis., and Elaine Ayers, of Princeton, N.J.; nephew, Steve and nieces, Shelia Bremner and Cindy Schwerman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. June 20 in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown. Arrangements were made by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
