Barbara J. Young, 97, of Emmaus, died March 24, 2016, in Lehigh Center. Born in Emmaus, she was the daughter of the late John and Susan (Mehi) Palencar.

She was the proprietor of the Hotel Emaus and worked in the mail room at the former Hess’s Department Store.

She was a member of Living Hope Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by sons, Brooke F. and his wife Doris, of Macungie, Rev. Tim W. and his wife Linda, of Emmaus, and Jon A. and his wife Janet, of Allentown; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
