Hawks will have new look

Bethlehem Catholic’s tennis team will roster a brand new lineup this season after losing its top four players to graduation.

Former doubles players, Jack Jiang and Henry Gao, will take over at number one and number two singles, respectively.

“They played indoor tennis this winter, and they were on our winter team,” said Becahi coach George Harmanos. “They’ve improved significantly, and they’ll be solid.”

Colby Treadwell, a junior and first-year player, will be at number three singles.

“He is doing really well, his first year being on the team,” Harmanos said. “In fact, he’s close to one and two, but they each have a little different styles.”

David Napierkowski is team captain, playing at number two doubles with Andrew Kaeser. Napierkowski played doubles last year, and both are strong.

Hesshanth Jeyaranghan and Grant Hicks will team up at number three doubles, and Matt Falteich and Sean Van Ormer, both sophomores and both new, will play at number four doubles.

Also vying for doubles positions are Blues Xu, Dan Deshler, and John Grifone.

“The good news is that they worked over the winter and improved,” said Harmanos. “Last year, we were around 13-5. We should finish around .500 this year.”
