Routes 145, 329 intersection improvements are underway
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that work has begun to improve the intersection of Route 145 (MacArthur Road) and Route 329 (Main Street) in Egypt. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use caution while driving through the area.
Sporadic lane restrictions will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Motorists are encouraged to check 511PA.com before their trip for information on lane restrictions.
There will be no restrictions during major holiday weekends, Egypt Community Day (June 4) or Cement Belt Fair (last week of June).
Roadway improvements include extending the length of the Route 145 northbound left turn lane to Route 329, extending the length of the Route 145 southbound left turn lane to Route 329 and adding right turn lanes on Route 145 north and south for traffic making right turns to Route 329.
Road-Con Inc. of West Chester is the general contractor on the $1,572,882 project. Work on the project is expected to be complete in December.
Traffic signal improvements include upgrading the existing pole and wire traffic signals to new LED traffic signals on mast arms and installing flashing “traffic signal ahead” warning devices on Route 145 in both directions.
The contractor also will install new curb ramps that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, new curbing and sidewalks, new signs and new pavement markings. Crews will also make roadway drainage improvements.
The average daily traffic volume on Route 145 in this area is 19,882 vehicles; on Route 329, 8,662 vehicles.
