John J. Ficek Jr., 90, of Allentown, died March 10, 2016, in Lehigh Commons, Macungie, where he was a guest for the past four years. He was the husband of the late Eleanor E. (Mackin) Ficek for 57 years.
He was a son of the late John J. Sr. and Catherine (Cook) Ficek.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Salisbury Township.
He was a court stenographer for Ace Reporting Company, Washington, D.C., and at the Pentagon and for the War Department. He then was a Lehigh County court stenographer for 40 years until he retired in 1984.
He was a member of Calvary Council 528 Knights of Columbus, Allentown.
He is survived by a son, Robert Christopher and his wife Sheila (Barber) of Kutztown; a sister, Catherine Pavuk of Harrisburg; a brother, William and his wife Elaine of Parkville, Md; nieces; nephews; and extended family.
He was predeceased by a son, Brian J.; and two brothers, Joseph, as an infant, and Thomas.
There will be a viewing 10 a.m. in the church foyer, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. March 17 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown, 18103. Contributions may be made to the church’s memorial fund.
