Warren Dennis Smale

Warren Dennis Smale, 43, Montclair, Calif., died unexpectedly Feb. 23, 2016, from injuries sustained in a car accident while working at CarMax, Ontario, Calif.

He was a son of Dennis Smale and Karen Lewis and a stepson of Shirley Smale.

He grew up in Allentown and was a William Allen High School graduate.

He was an actuarial mathematics major and graduated in 1994 from Worcester Polytechnical Institute, where he was student body president and a founding father of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

An Eagle Scout, he was a summer counselor at Trexler Scout Reservation. As a WPI alumnus, he was an admissions office volunteer, class chair and fraternity chapter advisor.

He was the 2009 recipient of the WPI John Boynton Young Alumni Award for Service.

He worked in financial services for companies including MetLife, CIGNA and Bank of America. He worked at CarMax since 2013.

In addition to his parents and stepmother, he is survived by his partner, Shengjie (Titus) Jiang; and a brother, John Smale.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon March 12 at the funeral home, 444 Pershing Blvd., Whitehall, 18052. A local service will be private.
