‘All Shook Up’

‘’It’s basically a play about the power and magic of music,” says director Brenda V. McGuire of “All Shook Up,” 7 p.m. March 11, 12 and 2 p.m. March 13, auditorium, Catasauqua High School, 2500 W. Bullshead Road, Allen Township.

The storyline is about three young couples who lead the cast of 23 students. McGuire, who also does costuming, costumed “All Shook Up” at Pennsylvania Playhouse, Bethlehem, in 2010.

Assistant director and choreographer is Kerry F. McGuire. Voice director and rehearsal pianist is Debra Ihling. Music director and conductor is Robert Arnold. Assistant choreographer is Jessica Englert.

“All Shook Up” is a “jukebox musical” with songs made famous by Elvis Presley and a book by Joe DiPietro based on Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.”

The production debuted on Broadway in 2005 and ran for only 213 performances, directed by Christopher Ashley with choreography by Ken Robertson. A 2015 production, retitled “Love Me Tender,” toured London and other cities in the United Kingdom.

Songs include “Jailhouse Rock,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Love Me Tender,’’ “Heartbreak Hotel” and the title song.
