Young 3rd at D-11 diving
The District XI Diving Championships were held on Saturday at Emmaus High School where Freedom senior, Madison Young, took third place with a total score of 407.25.
Young scored highest on her forward 1 1/2 somersault twist with a total of 45.10 points. The degree of difficulty was 2.2.
Young’s highest degree of difficulty dive, a 2.4, was her forward 2 1/2 somersault.
Young also scored high on her back 1 somersault, 1 1/2 twist with 43.70 points, and her inward 1 1/2 somersault with 41.80 points.
Parkland’s Kelsey German took first place with a total of 420.05 points.
German scored highest on two 2.3 degree of difficulty dives, a back 1 1/2 somersault, and a back 1 somersault with 1 1/2 twists. Both dives scored 46.00.
Parkland’s Serena Johnson placed second with a total score of 416.15 points.
Johnson scored highest on her forward 2 somersaults with 47.30 points. Her next highest score of 42.55 came on her forward 1 somersault with 2 twists, earning 42.55 points.
