Clara M. Halstead, 89, of Nazareth and formerly of Beersville, died Feb. 16, 2016, at Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Whipple and the late Dietrick Halstead.

Born in Stevensville, she was a daughter of the late Cecil H. and Doris M. (Warner) Pennay.

She was a cashier and greeter for K-Mart, Walnutport, for 15 years until she retired. She was earlier a cashier at the former ABE airport for 10 years.

She was a past worthy matron of Rose Croix Chapter 235, Order of the Eastern Star, Northampton. She was a past district deputy, chaplain and king’s guard of White Shrine of Jerusalem, Allentown.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Kocher of Bath and Cheryl and her husband Phillip Rockel of Northampton; a son, Dale Whipple of Wyalusing; a brother, Harold Pennay of Laceyville; and a sister, Mildred and her husband Jesse Goodwin, also of Laceyville; three grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sons, Gordon and Terry Halstead; a grandson; two brothers; and two sisters.
