At Coplay Borough Council’s meeting Jan. 12, Councilwoman Janet Eisenhauer reported on the library’s fundraising efforts in 2015.
“We had a successful year and plan to continue to raise funds in 2016,” she said.
In 2015, the fundraising effort brought in $6,700. The May basket social at St. Peter’s Church was the biggest contributor, bringing in nearly $1,000. The book sales in April, October and November were big fundraisers as well.
Coplay Community Days activities contributed another $662.00.
In addition to the fundraising effort, the library received $2,200 in private donations.
“It is gratifying to see the level of support we have seen from the community. As important as what we raised is what the library accomplished in 2015,” she said.
Eisenhauer presented council with a list of accomplishments that were funded with library property tax funds, the borough’s contribution to the library and private fundraising. The list highlights include setting up storytime on Thursdays, purchasing a new copier, conducting background checks on all staff, the summer reading program, the child ID program, hiring a computer technician, repairs to the library building, a coat drive and donating stuffed animals to local police, the food bank and the school district.
“Everyone working at the library sees it as an asset for the borough and looks forward to residents visiting the library and seeing the progress we made,” Eisenhauer said.
