Florence “Flossie” (Messenlehner) Varney, 83, formerly of Coplay and Bethlehem, died Feb. 7, 2016, at Cross Keys Village, New Oxford. She was the wife of the late P. Ralph “Pat” Varney.

Born in Coplay, she was a daughter of the late Ignatz and Christina Rose (Kroboth) Messenlehner.

She was a 1950 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School and a 1953 graduate of Sacred Heart School of Nursing.

She was a registered nurse for Sacred Heart Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital and Gracedale Nursing Home.

She was a former member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie and her husband Burt Curry of York; two sons, Thomas and his wife Laura of Georgia and David and his wife Carol of Pottsville; four grandchildren, Christina, Michelle, Justin and Ethan; and a sister, Christine Davis of Bethlehem.

She was predeceased by a sister, Claire Porochniak.

There will be a service 10:30 a.m. Feb. 12 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay.
