At Coplay-Whitehall Sewer Authority’s first 2016 meeting, Jan. 21, Solicitor John Stover opened the session.
At this meeting, Stover conducted the election for officers in 2016. There were no recent changes to the board’s membership. The board re-elected John Schreiner as chairman and James Carpenter as vice chairman.
Michael D. Hobel was appointed treasurer; James Hahn was appointed secretary; and Joseph Marx was appointed community affairs and public relations officer.
Joseph Bonshak will assume duties as assistant treasurer, and Paul Geissinger Jr. was named assistant secretary.
In other business, General Manager David Harleman updated the board on the status of the GIS mapping system. “The project has been a long-running project for us, and we are starting to see the results we anticipated,” he said.
Darryl Jenkins, CWSA’s engineer, informed everyone on the status of the first project of the new term.
“We should finalize scheduling on the metering replacement project and get that out to bid,” he said. There are currently no projected completion dates.
The project is a high priority for the board, and Jenkins is aware of that priority.
Under an EPA mandate issued to all municipalities using the Allentown Wastewater Treatment Plant, the agency requires all rate payers have their homes and offices inspected to see if rainwater collected on site is dumped into the sewage system.
Marx reported that 93.3 percent of all rate payers’ homes and offices are inspected.
