James A. Miller, 84, of Herrick Center and formerly of Whitehall, died Jan. 24, 2016, at Forest City Nursing Center. He was the husband of the late Sarah Jane (Haeseler) Miller.

Born in Orwigsburg, he was a son of the late Herrwood and Ada (Fisher) Miller.

He was a Lehigh University graduate and earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration.

Until he retired, he was a quality control engineer for Western Electric Company, Allentown.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Whitehall.

He is survived by a daughter, Nancy and her husband Bill of Herrick Center; a son, Jeff and his wife Carol of Whitehall; three grandchildren, Doug and his wife Dana Smoyer and Ian and Derick Miller; a great-grandson, Parker Smoyer; a brother, Edward Miller of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a great-grandson, Cash Miller; a sister, Rose Pfeifley; and a brother, Jack Miller.
