Finn sets new record
Liberty diver, Rachel Finn, set a new school record on Jan. 14 during the Hurricanes’ swim meet against Pocono Mountain East, scoring 254.30 points.
The old record, held by Casey Hill since 2009, was 247.30 points.
Finn’s forward double somersault pike scored a 55.20, her highest, and it has a 2.3 degree of difficulty.
Jeff Zettlemoyer, who coaches both the Liberty and Freedom divers, said, “I would love to be at all the meets when my divers break a record, but it hurts in a way because I wasn’t there to witness it.”
Finn is currently 2 points off Liberty’s pool record, held by Allentown Central Catholic’s Catherine Rose since 2008.
In other individual events, first place finishers for Liberty were Kay Wetmore (2:09.57) and Christopher Chambers (1:55.62) in the 200 free, Jocelyn Baker in the 200 IM (2:21.37), Maggie Walters and Robert Negron in the 50 free (26.11 and 21.31) and the 100 free (57.55 and 49.26), Kayla Drago (1:02.31) and Reid Rossi (56.68) in the 100 butterfly, and Sabrina Krotzer in the 500 free (5:53.06).
