Freedom High School’s boys’ swim team won another close meet last week, defeating Southern Lehigh 92-78.
A 1-2 Patriot finish in the 400 free relay, the final event of the day, earned 12 points for Freedom.
Brian Seitz, Al J Bell, Colin Burnette, and Tyler Higgins were the first-place team, and Brandon Burnette, Nick Carbonaro, Andy Conzola, and Troy Watlington came in second.
Just prior to the relay, Brandon Burnette had a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.51, out touching Solehi’s Janik Wing by .40 seconds.
Colin Burnette, Brandon Burnette, Bell, and Higgins opened the boys’ meet with a first place victory in the 200 medley relay in 1:48.65.
Higgins also won the 200 free in 1:53.80, and Seitz won the 100 free in 53.80.
Then, the Patriots scored a 1-2-3 finish in the 500 free with Higgins placing first in 5:07.50, Colin Burnette placing second in 5:24.89, and Watlington coming in third in 5:27.77.
Although the Freedom girls also swam a close meet against Southern Lehigh, it was the Spartans who came out on top 99-83.
Patriot girls who won their events were Rileigh Ellis in the 200 free in 2:06.52 and the 500 free in 5:39.99, Bridget Tarnowski in the 200 IM in 2:41.48, Riley Ward in the 50 free in 26.83 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.86.
Madison Young won the diving event with 220.15 points.
In relays, Ellis, Young, Andie Graney, and Ward took first place in the 200 free relay in 1:52.80, and Ellis, Alex Koehl, Graney, and Ward won the 400 free relay in 4:08.60.
