Edwin F. Wertman, 87, of Macungie, died Jan. 8, 2016. He was the husband of Virginia (McMillin) Wertman. The couple observed 63 years of marriage. Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Paul S. and Mary C. (Fritzinger) Wertman.

He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Springfield College, received his master’s degree in administration from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his post-graduate work at Temple and Lehigh universities.

He dedicated his career to public education, having taught at Susquehanna Township, Sewickley and in Allentown.

He served as an administrator in several school districts including Wilson Borough, Parkland, Lehigh County Schools, Carbon/Lehigh Intermediate Unit and Whitehall-Coplay.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Macungie.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Dr. Elizabeth, VMD, and her husband Terrance Mank; two sons, Paul Scott and his wife Deborah and Edwin G.; a sister, Mary Ann Davis; and five grandchildren.
