Leon E. Bieber, 84, of Old Zionsville, died Jan. 22, 2016, at home. He was the husband of Bonnie L. (Davis) Bieber. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in April. Born in Wescosville, he was a son of the late Charles and Clara (Meitzler) Bieber.
He was a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Union Local #542.
He graduated from Emmaus High School in 1949.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of Zion Lehigh Lutheran Church, Alburtis.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Thomas E. and his wife, Kimberly; James E. and his wife, Tia; daughter, Debra S. wife of Richard Kulbaba; brother, Herbert and his wife, Anna; sisters, Naomi Henry, Viletta Schantzenbach; four grandchildren, Brian Kulbaba, Michael and his wife, Amanda, Jennifer and her husband Justin Fones and Christopher; four great-grandchildren, Zoe, Eva, Colin and Garrison. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
Contributions may be made in his memory to the Allentown Rescue Mission, 355 W. Hamilton St., Allentown, 18101.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Jan. 28 at Zion Lehigh Lutheran Church, 8269 Spring Creek Road, Alburtis. Call 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church. Arrangements were made by the Schmoyer Funeral Home, Breinigsville.
