Northampton High School’s girls’ basketball team defeated Freedom by a score of 52-33 last Friday night at Freedom High School.

It was a new starting five, perhaps with the exception of Kaitlyn Swint, who took to the basketball court for the Patriots last week.

“Yeah, we noticed,” said Northampton forward, Jade Rindock.

With a 20-5 lead by the end of the first quarter, the Konkrete Kids still had enough to talk about prior to the start of the second.

“Yeah, we thought they would try to close out on V [Victoria Keenan] and Aja [Blount],” Rindock said.

In fact, Keenan sank four triples and accumulated 18 points within the first 10 minutes of the game. As the Kids

maintained a double-digit lead into halftime, some of Freedom’s usual starters had been substituted in, drawing fouls.

Rindock said, “The main thing for us was to keep staying positive, and we always go over our plays. No matter what, we had to keep pushing it.”

Earlier in the week, Northampton defeated Whitehall 54-36, and Freedom lost to Pocono Mountain East 58-45.

Over the Christmas break, the K Kids went 1-1 in a tournament at Penn State where they won a game by four points in overtime. It was Rindock who had tied the game on a lay-up to force the overtime.

“It was good,” she said. “Stressful.”
