Stanley Kaufman

Stanley Kaufman, 91, of Ellicott City, Md., formerly a longtime resident of Emmaus, died Jan. 2, 2016. He was the husband of Marilyn (Crossley) Kaufman. Born in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of Emmanuel and Reba Kaufman.

He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Corp.

He received his engineering degrees from Johns Hopkins University and had a distinguished career having been instrumental in several important technological achievements in engineering and physics. Much of his career was with AT&T/Bell Labs/Lucent, retiring in 1995.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Rabbi Jan Caryl Kaufman, of New York City; stepdaughter, Dr. Pamela Crossley, of Norwich, Vt.; stepsons, Kenneth Crossley and his wife Kirsten, of Salem, Ore. and John Eric Crossley and his wife Karen, of Eldersburg, Md.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Myna Agetstein and stepson, Mark A. Crossley.
