Andrew J. Doran, 33, of Allentown, died suddenly Dec. 15, 2015. Born Nov. 10, 1982, he was the son of Peter T. and Alice M. (Marsicano) Doran.
He was an English teacher at Harrison Morton Middle School, Allentown. He coached football and power lifting for local high schools, including his alma mater, Allentown Central Catholic, Freedom, Parkland and most recently was offensive coordinator for Salisbury Falcons.
He was a dedicated football coach on and off the field for over 10 years, and kept in touch with many of his players long after they had graduated.
He was a voracious reader and Star Wars enthusiast and enjoyed a wrestling-based creative writing circle. Among his many accomplishments, he was a three-time Pennsylvania teenage power lifting champion, part of the 1998 ACCHS state championship football team, sports blogger and teacher of the month.
He received his bachelor degree in journalism from Penn State University and his education degree from Kutztown University. He was working his way to a master’s degree in education, but his greatest accomplishment by far was his two children, Nick and Emily.
He is survived by his children, Nicholas Chase and Emily Grace; parents; sister, Suzanne and her husband Kasey Baltsar; maternal grandparents, Paul and Doris Marsicano; former wife, Jessica Peters; aunts; uncles and cousins.
