Freedom High School’s cheerleaders competed at the East Penn Conference Cheer Championships where they placed ninth last Wednesday at Easton Area Middle School.
“Last week we did exhibition at a recreation competition, and I think we improved from that,” said Patriot captain, Meghan Eller, after Freedom performed their routine.
The Patriots began with a cheer, followed by jumps and stunts to music, tumbling, and ended with a dance.
“I love the dance. Finishing with the dance is the time to have all your energy, and push through, and give it everything you have,” Eller said.
Freedom’s assistant coaches choreographed the routine.
“They deserve all the credit,” said Eller.
Eller and fellow captain, Cristina Youwakim, try to keep their team positive.
“You can see when the girls get disappointed, and it’s stressful. We just have to keep everyone on task and motivated,” Eller said.
