Bethlehem Catholic High School’s cheerleaders won two second place awards at the East Penn Conference Cheer Championships last Wednesday at Easton Area Middle School.
The Hawks placed second in the Competitive Spirit Division, after performing fifth out of 16 squads.
Becahi captain, Maria Talpas, said, “I think it went off pretty strong. We were just at Kutztown and had a couple adversities, but we had our game face on, and it went pretty well. The girls came together on the mat.”
The Hawks’ routine consisted of stunts, tumbling, cheer, and dance.
Becahi also took second place in the Gameday Division over two other squads. Allentown Central Catholic placed first, and Easton was third.
“It’s like you’re on a track, cheering to the crowd,” said Talpas.
The Hawks did a cheer, a sideline, and a band dance.
“Basically, we’ll get the scoresheet, see what the judges liked and didn’t like, and based on their feedback, we’ll try to change a couple of things,” Talpas said.
