Moravian House hosts tenant picnic
On Oct. 20, Moravian House Management hosted the first annual Tenant Appreciation Picnic at their very own Activity Center. Tenants of the independent living home gathered together for festivities sure to bring a special change that everyone enjoyed.
One of the many perks of the day was having the Moravian College student nurses hold a health fair that offered different workshops to educate the tenants on topics including pain management, nutrition and a convenient blood pressure workshop which allowed the tenants to have their blood pressure checked.
The picnic also included lighthearted activities to bring out the inner competitive and artistic side of the tenants. A craft table was provided to create small Halloween themed creatures and games included a beanbag toss along with a sporty option of scoring a hole in one on a small strip of a putting green. All winners were awarded with prizes of their choice from festive potholders to self-painting light catcher kits.
While everyone sat down to enjoy their lunch, their guest pianist Maria Prochnau entertained her audience by playing many beautiful songs that everyone surely recognized. Not too much later, Chaplin Gordon Sommers and Cathy Taylor joined Maria to lead the group in sing alongs including the classic “Daisy, Daisy.”
There was no sweeter way for the picnic to end that day as the management and volunteers helped serve a delicious ice cream dessert to everyone who came that afternoon, until the raffle began! Many of the door prizes, graciously provided by the Moravian Management, included goodies such as tickets to Phantoms Games, signed Eagles photos, and Avon products.
Overall, the picnic was a success and there is no doubt that everyone who attended that day left eager to see what next years would hold.
